More living free...
So, I found out you can get a free SIP account. http://serweb.iptel.org works quite well if you can set up SRV records. Ended up using http://afraid.org to serve my DNS...for free...and they do SRV.

Living Free on the Internet
So, I had a server with Linode. It was nice for what it did. Served a blog, some websites, and my email.
But the expense was getting a bit annoying...but I wanted to keep everything (like my email). So, what to do?
Simple, three steps:
1) Find a free primary/secondary DNS service.
2) Use Google Apps for the e-mail.
3) Use Blogger for the blog.
Sure, I lose some of my custom look...but it's free. The other biggie is GMail's better spam handling. I was using dspam, but that was getting clunky. Labels on the email also rock...better than procmail rules in setup.
Oh, and since I use Android phones, everything just ties together fairly well.

Here we go...
...again! I have decided to move from my own server to Blogger to cut costs. I've learned a lot on how to live "free" on the Internet, and still keep a web presence. Need to write all that up for everyone to see.
Until then...
Until then...
